South Bank Banks VillasA Filter to the Natural Elements
The Banks Villa at South Bank, Turks and Caicos maximises the width of the oceanfront site with a low slung built form, hugging the landscape. This is a home which reveres the horizon-line and maximizes a landscape-orientated view out to the ocean from the living spaces and bedroom suites.
Shaded and structured outdoor spaces are provided for both the north and south elevations of the house.
The villa is designed primarily in section. We wanted to bed the form into the landscape and to break up the scale of the construction, so we designed a home that steps away on approach and cascades down to the oceanside.
Shaded and structured outdoor spaces are considered for both the north and south elevations of the house, limiting the concept of a front and back and therefore superior and inferior facades, but instead a house in a landscape where orientation allows for different outdoor uses throughout the day.
The main living area is a full width, 55' open plan volume, allowing complete flexibility in use and a fantastic space for entertaining, connecting directly to oceanside outdoor shaded living decks. www.livesouthbank.com
